Ho trovato un posto dove il design e l’innovazione si sono uniti alla bellezza per creare… ciglia finte di carta! Sembra strano, vero? Le ho trovate approdando su Paperself.com, una piattaforma londinese che aggrega designers da tutto il mondo, per riscoprire un uso più responsabile, originale ed eco-friendly della carta.
Paperself ha sul web una sua linea di prodotti cartacei che conta le paper eyelashes, il transformer table e lighting, un lampadario assemblabile e personalizzabile di cartone. Ovviamente, essendo una ragazza, quello che più mi ha impressionata sono le Paper eyelashes. Le ciglia finte sono perfette quando si vuole avere uno sguardo magnetico senza usare troppo trucco e non c’è abbastanza tempo, ma queste sono davvero speciali. Ideati da Tin Yu Wang e vincitori del premio Norman Copenhagen per il miglior prodotto 2010, sembrano delle piccole e delicate opere d’arte.
Queste paper eyelashes sono ispirate dall’arte cinese del tagliare la carta e fondono insieme la cultura tradizionale cinese e il moderno design.
I sei diversi stili di ciglia finte, infatti, hanno un significato simbolico presso la cultura cinese:
Horses-i cavalli simboleggiano il successo;
Peony-le peonie portano felicità e buona fortuna;
Peach blossom-i fiori del pesco sono il simbolo dell’amore e del romanticismo;

Possono essere usati sia per le feste ed eventi particolari, usando le ciglia intere, sia di giorno per dare un quid in più al vostro look e sottolineare la forma del vostro occhio. Basta applicare un formato piccolo o tagliare la porzione che più vi piace dalle ciglia intere ed il gioco è fatto! Non trovate queste foto abbiano un aspetto fatato? Probabilmente penserete che è da pazzi usarle, vero? Io credo che siano davvero particolari e non esiterei a sfoggiarne un paio! I miei design preferiti sono peacock (small e full), deer&butterfly (small e full) e clown.

I found a place where design and innovation join beauty to create… false eyelashes made of paper! It sounds strange, right? I found them landing on Paperself.com, a Londoner platform that connects designers from the whole world, to rediscover a more responsible, original and eco-friendly usage of paper.
Paperself has its own line of paper products on line, which counts the paper eyelashes, the transformer table and lighting, a customazible and assemblable funny cardbord chandelier. Obviously, what impressed me the most are the false eyelashes. You know, the eyelashes are perfect when you want a magnetic look without using too much makeup and you haven’t enough time, but these are so special.
Designed by Tin Yu Wang and winners of the Norman Copenhagen Best Product Award 2010, these eyelashes look like small, delicate art masterpiece.
These papers eyelashes are inspired by Chinese art of paper-cutting and combine Chinese traditional culture and the modern design.
The six different styles of Paper eyelashes, in fact, have a symbolic meaning in Chinese culture:
Horses symbolize success,
Peony brings happiness and good fortune,
Peach blossom are the symbol of love and romance,
Butterfly & Deer indicate freedom, beauty and sensitivity,

A new eyelashes style, called “Under the Sea”, was born by the collaboration with the DJ duo Broken Hearts, and is enriched with soft corals, little fishes and seahorses.

The Paper eyelashes are stored into an elegant paper box with instructions for use and are available in two sizes, full and small. They can be used both for parties/special events, using the full lashes, and during the day to give something special to the your look and emphasize the shape of your eye. Simply apply a small size eyelashes or cut the portion you like from the full eyelashes stripe, apply it and you’re done!
Don’t you find the photos above with the cute models enchanted? Probably you would think taht using these eyelashes is crazy, wouldn’t you? I think they’re very particular and I wouldn’t hesitate to wear a couple! My favorite designs are peacock (small and full), Deer & Butterfly (small and full) and clowns.
